Product Review: Lift'n Buddy

A couple weeks ago I attended as well as presented at ASSE’s Safety 20125 professional development conference.  I always enjoy spending time in the exhibit hall looking for new and innovative products.  There were two products that caught my attention this year.  The first I will highlight in this blog and the second in another blog.

Lift’n Buddy

Do you have to lift/move heavy, smaller sized items such as propane tanks, 5 gallon pails, kegs, commercial size kitchen bowls?  If so, you know moving those items isn’t easy and can add excessive wear and tear to you and your employees.  The Lift’n Buddy is a device designed specifically for moving and lifting similar type items—and can do so in tight spaces.

In many instances, many companies are forced to choose between using a stacker or a 2-wheel dolly to move these items—and all too often neither one is ideal.  The stacker to lift/move items but it requires a good amount of space to maneuver.  A dolly is small and very maneuverable to move items but it doesn’t lift them.

In my opinion the Lift’n Buddy offers the following advantages to employers and employees:

  • Simple, straightforward to use; therefore risk of injury or error is very minimal
  • Fits into tight spaces and is highly maneuverable
  • Lifts loads up to 450 lbs., 60” high (max lift weight and height range depend on the model)
  • Virtually eliminates bending and lifting by employees
  • Applicable in many settings—office, commercial bakery, liquor stores, delivery trucks, etc. (Optional accessories are a pail and keg attachment)
  • According to the website the cost is less than stackers

From an ergonomics and lean perspective, the Lift’n Buddy certainly fills a niche that up to this point hasn’t been met very well by existing device options.

If you have a lifting/moving issue, it may be worth your time to take a look at the Lift’n Buddy.
