Product Review: GaffGun

The GaffGun is the second innovative product I came across at Safety 2015.  When you see all of the tape running across the exhibit and session floors covering cords and cables you’ll understand why this product caught my attention.  Normally, laying down and securing cords/cables with tape requires bending down/kneeling to get the cords in line and then applying the tape.  Not only is the person in a awkward position posture-wise, it also takes a long time to do.  The GaffGun solves both problems.

According to the website, the GaffGun is “the single greatest advancement in floor tape since gaffer’s tape was invented.”  It claims to save over 90% of the time to lay tape over cables or rope.  The cables/cords don’t even have to be straight as it has a funneling system that automatically straightens them as it lays tape over them.

You do need to bend down, straighten the very beginning of the cords and apply for first few inches of tape.  After that you stand up and push the handle of the GaffGun.  I tried the GaffGun on their demonstration carpet and it takes a bit of push force to start but once started it is very easy, quick and eliminates the bent over back position.  This device appears to have transformed this somewhat difficult, back bending, time consuming job into one that is much easier and faster.

If you or your company has to lay down and pull up cables/cords on a regular basis, then it may be worth your time to check out the GaffGun.
