Product Reviews for Safety 2012

I recently attended ASSE’s Safety 2012 PDC.  It was the first time attending this conference.  I was impressed with the expansive exhibit hall.  There were a few products which caught my attention which I will highlight in this and upcoming blogs.

Ultra Lift

Do you have employees who have to lift and carry loads up and down stairs, a curb or even the back of a truck?  If so, there was a product on display at Safety 2012 that provides a solution to this problem.  The name of the product is Ultra Lift.  It is a motorized hand truck that allows a single person to take heavy loads up or down stairs with nearly zero physical risk of injury.

The Ultra Lift is rated to move loads of up to 1500 lbs.  The operation is pretty simple.  There are a couple buttons that raise and lower the lift plate.  The operator holds the unit on the stairs by using leverage, depresses the button until the appropriate level is reached and then repeats until it reaches the floor.  The risk factors for injury using the Ultra Lift are virtually nil, especially compared to manually moving loads with a regular lift truck.

The benefits of the Utra Lift are:

  • One person can safely and easily move heavy loads
  • Minimal strength and effort is required by the operator allowing it to be used by virtually all worker of varying physical capabilities
  • Movement of the lift is steady and controlled which allows for moving delicate items and eliminates damage to the load

This could be used for a wide range of businesses and industries that lift, move or deliver products internally or externally to customers such as beverage and appliance, furniture movers, moving of barrels, drums, safes, etc.
