Interesting Products from the ASSE Safety 2013

I attended and presented at the ASSE’s Safety 2013 in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago.  Besides listening to other speakers and meeting new people, the one thing I really enjoy about the conference is the exhibit hall.  There are the usual products on display, such as various PPE (fall arrest systems, gloves, safety glasses, footwear, and then there are some new products that caught my eye.  Here are four that were new to me and definitely have an application in industry:

“It is harder to work safer than not”–Do You Agree?

I’m attending and presenting at ASSE Safety 2012 this week.  The speaker of one session I attended yesterday said something that really got my attention.  He was talking about how to influence employee behavior in order to achieve better safety performance.  He was explaining that it is difficult to get employees to behave safely.  Then he said this, “We (meaning safety professionals) have to admit that it is harder (for employees) to work safer than not.”  I was taken aback from that statement.  Working safely shouldn’t be harder than working unsafe–unless, of course, the work environment,

New Health and Safety “Body of Knowledge” Resource

I wanted to share with you a website that I think will be a great resource to you, especially if you are searching for anything related to health, safety and environmental topics.  The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) unveiled a new ‘Safety, Health and Environmental Body of Knowledge’ (BOK) tool at its recent Leadership Conference for ASSE members.
